Research

The Department of Modern History is a highly active group of scholars, who work in research areas ranging across Australian History, World History, Empire and Postcolonial History, Europe and the West, women's, gender and feminist history, Aboriginal history, the history of sexuality, popular culture, media history, the history of ideas, and historiography.

We are also proud to be the editorial home of the internationally-renowned journal Australian Feminist Studies. AFS editors include Associate Professor Mary Spongberg from Department of Modern History and Dr Nicole Moore from Department of English.
