The following Undergraduate prizes are offered in modern history:
The Aisling Society Prize
Value:$150
Open to all students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for an essay in Irish History or Irish-Australian history or literature.
The Australian Federation of University Women New South Wales (North Shore Group) Prize for 200-Level History
Value:$100
Open to all women students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for proficiency in two units at 200 level to be named each year by the Dean of Division of Humanities.
The Bruce Mansfield History Prize in Modern History
Value $300
The Bruce Mansfield History Prize is awarded for proficiency in the Modern History Honours Program.
The Harry Henderson Memorial Prize
Value: $500
Open to all students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for proficiency in 100-level Modern History.
The Irish Famine Memorial Prize
Value: $200
Awarded for an Honours thesis on an Irish or Irish Australian topic or on a global problem in the modern world which might include famine, poverty, mass emigration, refugees or political upheaval.
The Margaret Jones Prize
Value $200
Awarded to a female student for proficiency in the unit HIST245 Women in Australian History 1788-1988.
The Shirley Morrison-Swanson Memorial Prize
Value:$500
Awarded to a female student for proficiency in any one of the units HIST245, HIST338 or HIST340.
The Stephen Shortus Memorial Prize
Value: $200
Open to all candidates proceeding to an award under the Bachelor Degree Regulations (other than candidates for an honours degree). Awarded for an essay submitted for any 200-level unit in the Departments of English, Modern History, Critical and Cultural Studies.
The Women's Pioneer Society of Australasia Prize
Value: $100
For proficiency in unit HIST109.
The Waratah Medal in Australian History
Value: A Medallion
For the best essay in Australian history at undergraduate level. Medal and name on Honour Board.
